Airbags and children
Hey there! Today we’re diving into the world of kids in the car, because, let’s be honest, it’s very important. So, let’s quickly check what’s allowed and what’s not when it comes to transporting kids in the car!
How are you allowed to transport children in the car?
Rule 1:
We’re kicking things off with a surprise. Did you know that children of all ages can be transported in the car, both in the front and the back? Yes, really, it’s allowed! Whether it’s a newborn or a 12-year-old, it’s totally okay. But remember, safety is our priority, which brings us to the next point.
Rule 2:
Now it gets a little more serious. If a child is under 1.35 meters, they must always sit in an approved car seat or on a booster seat. So, no messing around with pillows or sitting on your lap, that’s a no-go zone. Safety first, remember!
What is an airbag?
Airbags are like soft cushions that pop up to protect you when an accident occurs.
When should the airbag be deactivated?
Here’s the twist, if you’re travelling rear-facing in a car seat on the front seat, you need to deactivate the airbag. Now you’re probably wondering: Why? Well, because we want to prevent that airbag from hitting the baby’s neck during a crash. Safety first, remember?

Children and airbags in brief:
Children are allowed to ride in the car anywhere, as long as it is safe! Children under 1.35 meters need a car seat or booster seat, and if you are taking a mini version of yourself rear-facing in the front seat, turn off the airbag to protect his or her neck.
